We are excited to announce that Discovery Middle School is collaborating with Special Olympics to offer Unified Sports! Unified Sports teams consist of an approximately equal number of athletes and partners. Athletes are students with intellectual disabilities (IQ less than 70) and partners are students without intellectual disabilities. Together, athletes and partners will practice up to 1-2 times a week and participate in games with other VSD schools 1-2 times during the sports season. Our Unified Basketball season will run from March 5th – March 23rd. Our Unified Soccer season will start in April (with exact dates to follow). Register your student online at www.familyid.com/discovery-middle-school in addition to filling out the Special Olympics paperwork (forms are available at the Discovery Business Office or via email if requested). Students must have a current sports physical and have purchased their $10 ASB Card to be eligible. Please contact Mrs. McKay in the Business Office with any questions.
