Welcome to Discovery Middle School, home of the Wildcats! Discovery is a wonderfully diverse middle school where we seek to engage, empower and encourage our students to dream big and reach for the stars. We have an extremely hardworking, caring staff that is committed to supporting our students in their learning every day. It is a pleasure to partner with the Discovery community on behalf of our students.
Discovery’s Middle Years Programme, or MYP, is aligned with the International Baccalaureate organization. The goal of the program is to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, caring young people who help create a better, more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Three fundamental concepts highlight our work: intercultural awareness, holistic learning and communication. International thinking and a focus on developing the whole child converge in the MYP to create caring, empathetic, lifelong learners who are prepared for high school, college, careers and life.
Discovery has three primary expectations that we teach, model and expect of students: Be respectful, be responsible and be safe with empathy. Developing empathy, which we define as having the ability to understand what someone else may be thinking or feeling, is at the core of our behavioral expectations. The more we learn to look beyond ourselves to the people around us and recognize the impact of our own behavior on others, the better we will hopefully treat the world. We all have a positive contribution to make. It is our goal to help our students recognize that.
There is so much more to share about our school. While I could go on and on, suffice it to say that I am proud to be a Wildcat. We have a great staff, great students and a great community. We are always trying to get better, and we look forward to the journey of learning with you.
Make a difference for kids!
